Epoch Labs LLP ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website www.epochlabs.dev and develops mobile applications, including StarCheck—a task management and calendar scheduling application. This Privacy Policy explains our practices regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information.

1. Information Collection and Use

StarCheck is designed to prioritize your privacy. Most of your data resides locally on your device.

  • Local Data Storage: Projects, tasks, reminders, and insights data are stored locally on your device. We do not sync this data to our own servers.
  • Voice-to-Task Feature (Data Transmission): When you use the voice-to-task feature, the audio processing (voice-to-text) is performed entirely locally on your device. Only the resulting text query is transmitted to a third-party Artificial Intelligence (LLM) provider for processing. This is necessary to convert your natural language commands into scheduled tasks.
    • We do not retain this data.
    • The data is sent solely for the purpose of processing your request and returning the result to your device.

2. Device Permissions

StarCheck may request access to certain device features to provide its core functionality. These permissions are fully optional and can be managed or revoked at any time in your device settings.

  • Microphone: Required only if you wish to use the Voice-to-Task feature to create tasks via voice commands.
  • Calendar: Required to synchronize StarCheck tasks with your device's native calendar.
  • Notifications: Required to send you timely reminders for your scheduled tasks and projects.

3. Proxy Server and Logs

To protect our API keys and ensure the security of the application, requests to third-party AI providers are routed through our proxy server.

  • Technical Logs: Our proxy server may temporarily retain technical logs (such as timestamps or IP addresses) typically for 30 days or less, as inherent to standard server operations.
  • No Data Harvesting (Incidental Access): We do not access logs for the purpose of collecting or harvesting user data. However, we may access and analyze logs for technical debugging or standard operational maintenance. Any exposure to user information during such activities is entirely incidental to the technical work being performed.

4. Monetization

StarCheck offers premium features through subscription or one-time payment options.

  • Payment Processing: Payments are processed by the respective app store (Google Play Store or Apple App Store). We do not collect or store your financial information.
  • Subscription Management (RevenueCat): We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect anonymous, non-personally-identifiable data such as purchase tokens and device identifiers to process transactions and prevent fraud. 5. User Data Control

  • Full Access: Because your data is stored locally on your device, you have full and immediate access to it at any time.
  • Data Deletion: You can delete your data at any time using the in-app options provided within StarCheck. This action permanently removes the data from your device.

6. Data Safety Compliance

  • We do not "sell" user data.
  • Data transmitted off-device (only for the Voice-to-Task feature) is encrypted in transit.
  • We do not purposefully collect or retain user content on our servers.

7. Third-Party AI & Model Training

Regarding the Voice-to-Task feature:

  • No Model Training: We utilize enterprise-grade API connections that, by default, prohibit third-party providers from using your data to train their models.
  • Data Privacy: Your text queries are processed strictly to fulfill your specific request and are not used to improve external AI models.

8. Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately, and may occur with or without prior notice.
